Melis TATLICIBASI- Interior Designer/Furniture Designer
Hello ! I Melis Tatlicibasi form Turkey , am an Interior Designer. I graduated from Yasar University of Izmir in 2017 and also hold a degree of Master of Interior Design from Florence Design Academy in Italy. My interest in Furniture Design was initiated by my Arts History Lecturer who asked us to design a piece of furniture inspired by a famous architect . I designed a desk lamp inspired by Le Corbusier’s “Fountain House” which was greatly acclaimed by my superiors and was elected for
the Academy Exhibition.This has triggered the passion in me for furniture design.
My first proffesional work was with a international Company “DORYA” which is Us-Turkish Joint Venture. At Dorya I was assigned to develop the Website for their “VOGUE” Collection which I enjoyed thoroughly. My experience with Dorya and their vast collection of classical and contemporary furniture widened my horizon and enchanced my motivation to do more in Furniture Design.My second work has been with a well-known Turkish Architect, Serhat Akbay who specialises in state-of-art boutique projects mostly involving stone and wood. He also has a furniture making facilitites completely dedicated for the projects undertaken. I have had the privilage of working with Mr.Serhat AKBAY for the design and building of his own Winery in which I was assigned to design the bar.My journey to produce my products started with my decision to participate in CDA "Creatures Design Awards"
My family has been the biggest support on this road. Later, I created my "PANDA" collection and "CLOUD" lounge chair . I worked with group of talented craftsmen and upholsterer. I was ready to present my collection . This is how I immortalized the panda, which has a special place in my life and the cloud lounge chair gave me the opportunity to bring the clouds to our living spaces.
These designs of mine have great importance in my life because I will never forget the beginning I made with them. At the same time I have been creating my own furniture design for various items with which I aim to catch the attention of the international furniture design.
